Elections - Democracy

Last week I have been working with my group making a DLO about democracy. This DLO will tell you guys some information about democracy. What I have really enjoyed about doing this activity is that I got to do this DLO with my group which are Magenta, Nickalea, and Jay - don.

Coalition

Our focus for this morning was we got to make a DLO on elections. What My group has done was we all worked together on different slides and answer some question that has to do with elections. The people I have been working with are Magenta, Jay don, and Nickeala.

Elections - Prime Minister

 

THIS TASK IS TASK TWO, FOR TASK TWO WE PICKED JENNY SHIPLEY TO MAKE A DLO ABOUT. WE CREATED A DLO THAT TELLS US ABOUT JENNY SHIPLEY LIFETIME. I DID A FUN COLLABORATIVE ACTIVITY WITH MY GROUP LEARNING ABOUT PRIME MINISTERS.

Election - Padlet

Our focus for today is to complete our 3 tasks about elections. This task is task one, For task one we made a padlet that explains and answers these three question and they are: what is an election, why we have an election, and what happens during an election.

Why it's important to stand up to bullies

Today in inquiry we were discussing how to speak up and how to speak out if someone bullies you or you see someone being bullied. People who are being bullied should use their WITS and stand up to themselves. Sky, Nickaela, Hajera, Zahra and I have made this short film about standing up to bullies and how to help a victim of a bully. 

Why it's great to be me

It's great to be me because my goals are to be successful in life and to never give up. It's great to be me because I like playing Netball, I like playing card games, I like Playing handball, And I like singing. My friends are Sa Kae, Ma'ata, Magenta, Shakaia, Savelina, and Viva.

Zookeeper

In careers we took a test which asked what we were interested in. It gave us the option of not interested, neutral, fairly interested and very interested. Depending on what you answered they will analyse how many jobs that you could do or could be interested in. I got 125 jobs in total which was a lot of careers to choose from. I picked one job that I think I would like which was a zookeeper. The site that we were using is called Careers Quest.

Maori Storytelling

Magenta and I have finished our 25 summary. We have done this plan to help us finish our summary it has helped us by adding some words into our summary. I found it challenging to make my summary exactly 25 words.

How Maui slowed down the sun

Savelina and I created a comic about the myth 'How Maui slowed down the sun'. In this activity, we focused on myths and legends. In this scene is of Maui asking his brothers to help him slow down the sun. The dialogue in this comic tried to show not tell what could have been happening. The thing that I found hard to do was looking for the right background because all the choices were modern. If you would like to create a comic like mine go to the site story board that.

Myths and legends has been our focus this week. In this activity, we focused on 'Maui and the Sun'. This scene is of Maui asking his brothers to help him slow down the sun. Legend Of The Seven Sisters

Today I finished the last DLO that we had to create the legend of the seven sisters. This DLO shows How many sisters are there?, What are their names, Who do they visit?, Why do they visit?. In this activity I worked with Shakaia, and Viva.

The Winter Solstice

Today we are finishing off the 3 Matariki DLO's that we started last week. This is the second DLO that we had to created. This DLO is about the winter solstice and is also about the Earth, Moon, and Sun.

NZ Rubbish

For inquiry this term we are learning about how we can look after our planet earth by using reduce, reuse and recycle. We found out that a report says New Zealander's are really bad at recycling. Also every year New Zealander's throw away 3.6 million tonnes of rubbish each year. We looked at two articles about what we should do to solve our waste problem. Then we made our own opinion. I agreed with article two.

Conserving Water

On Friday Sa Kae, Shakaia and I started this DLO. The question that we had too ask our self was, People living Auckland have been ask to conserve water but why. Our DLO Shows our learning and thinking about the question we were given. It took a little bit of time to figure out what we were going to write about but in the end we figured it in the end. I have always loved inquiry. So tell me how can people living in Auckland conserve water and how?

Omaru River

Our inquiry focus for today was the Omaru River. This river is located in East Auckland, Glen Innes. Zahra and I were talking about the positive side effect of the river and the negative side effects. To share our learning we made a DLO about the Omaru River. We added Images to back up our text. The blockage was caused by wet wiped flushed down the toilet. Blockages in the river can make the water stagnant and polluted.   

What is a river?

 

Today for inquiry we were learning about the features of a river. We were paired up and my partner was Zahra. We watched a video about a river and had to write a 25 sentences story about a river. We then made a google drawing. We had a picture of the Tamaki River, we had to identify and describe the picture. 

How birds fly?

Last week the year 7's started learning about the black tailed godwit birds. Then we started learning about how birds fly. We had to make a canva on how birds fly and this is my DLO on how birds fly. If you want to make your own canva visit the site canva.com

Water in schools

On Thursday LS2 started learning about water in schools. We had to buddy up and make a DLO on Dehydration and Hydration. We had to find out why it is important to drink water at school. We also did a 25 words challenge. My partner in this activity is Sakae.

Bar Tailed Godwit

This term our inquiry focus was on the Bartailed Godwit but in Maori it is known as the Kuaka. The Yr7's have created a popplet together that tells informations about the appearance, habitat, Migration diet and what effects Godwit/Kuaka in different ways. We also added in some images and videos to give a clear picture of the special bird.  Did you know that they have a 8-9 day non stop flight, this adds up to one whole week and one day which is a short period of time considering they are flying long distance.   We look toward to learn more about the unique birds.

Google Maps Challenge - Thailand

Today in LS2 we had to finish our inquiry work and this week i am in Thailand. So I finished my Google Maps Challenge.
