Hot Money - Summarising

Mishaan and I created this DLO because in reading we have been doing novel study's. Mishaan and I picked this book called Hot Money and started reading up to chapter 2. After we finished reading the book we decided to do a summary  about what we have read so far. We wrote down 20 important words from the text. Then we picked the 6 most important words from the 20 words. Next we formed a sentence with the 6 most important words. I really enjoyed working collaboratively with my partner Mishaan.

The Princess Bride - Fantasy Conventions

 

This term we started to do a film study on The Princess Bride movie. I created this DLO about the conventions in the movie. On my DLO I have explained what we did and what I leant. I liked how we all worked together as a class.

The Wednesday Wars

  

 






Today is read an ebook day, I decided to read this book called The Wednesday Wars by Gary D. Schmidt from the Tamaki College overdrive. This book is about Holling Hoodhood he is a seventh grader in 1967. In his school, the student body is largely divided between Catholics and Jews, and every Wednesday both groups go to their separate churches for religious classes. You can find this book on the tamaki college overdrive site.

I read this book on the Tamaki College over drive site. This book is called Fancy Nancy: Nancy Clancy, Super Sleuth. In this first in a series of delightful chapter books, Fancy Nancy takes on the role of detective. Vote For Woman - Summary

Mia, Nazella, Zahra, and I created this summary about the suffrage movement. Since woman's rights was a big issue in the olden days our reading topic this term related . We watched a youtube video about the suffragette movement and wrote a 25 word summary on "what was the suffragette movement". 

Kate Sheppard

Mia, Nazella and I made a DLO about Kate Sheppard. We talked about who Kate Sheppard was?, what Kate, why she was famous. But we then had to describe what her personal qualities were using the information from different sites. We thought she was confident because she took pride in her public speeches and wasn't afraid what others thought of her. We then thought of a interesting question and answered it using this information. I think talk definitely helped us learn because we would have learning conversations about this. 

Maori Storytelling

Magenta and I have finished our 25 summary. We have done this plan to help us finish our summary it has helped us by adding some words into our summary. I found it challenging to make my summary exactly 25 words.

Tongan New Years

On Monday we started doing a Matariki study and we had to do 3 different tasks. This is the first task, for this task we had to create a DLO that shows How do different cultures celebrate the winter solstice?.

Recycling Summary

Today in reading we created a DLO with Mrs Anderson. We had to make a summary about the book that we read. The book that we read is called Eco-Rangers save the planet, the illustration is Maria Gill. The people that were in my group was Mishaan, Javeylor, and Sa Kae. I hope that you enjoyed reading our summary about recycling.

Ivory Banning In China

This current events DLO shows my research and opinion on the ivory ban in China. This DLO that I have created is to tell you; when it happened?, Where it happened?, Who is doing it?, What are they doing?, Why are they doing it?, and how are they doing it?. It also shows you 2 opinions and my opinion. Then we have to answer the 2 questions what do you think these authors wanted you to learn from these articles? and how do you feel after reading this information?.

The Wright Brothers

Today for reading we had to find facts about the Wright brothers. The main idea is how the wright brothers  were the first people to fly a plane. My partner in this activity was Evelyn. We worked as a team and got the work done.

Searching skills

On Thursday afternoon we had Researching with Mrs. Oglivie Mr. Oglivies wife. Our question was who are the best European football players 2015.if you want to know how to narrow a search than have a look at my presentation on smart searching.

Read Theory

Every week LS2 does read theory. Read theory is a reading site that helps you whith your reading. You have to read the text then answer the questions. Today on my first story I got 100% that means I got all the questions right. I like doing read theory because it helps me with my reading and it also helps me achieve my goals.

Attributing the Olympic rings

Yesterday for reading we did Attributing. We had to find photos that was labeled for reuse. Then go to the site and find out who the author was and what the licence is. Then you put the web page on the slide and finally put the photo on the google slide.

Walking on the grass

For lasts weeks reading we read a book called "Walking on the grass". We had to predict what will happen next in the story and then post it.

Fantastic Facts Challenge

Today I did a fantastic facts challenge reading can do. I had to think of a topic and of a question. After that I had to think of some keywords, then next I thought of what do I know about a cemetery and I wrote down what I knew.The final thing I had to do was go on a website and find what a cemetery is and then put the link to the site that you got information on to the DLO.

One point of view

Yesterday we learnt about the bus strike. My partner is Fifita she was the bus driver and i was the bus drivers boss. We had to go on the site i fake text and fake text to each other and put it on a DLO.
