Beef pie filling

Today at tech we made a beef pie filling. We just made the filling for the pie then we are going to make the pastry next Friday. I had to get 1 teaspoon of corn flour and get 200mL of hot water and mix it together. Then I had to get a beef stock cube and mix it with a different measuring cup and leave it there until it has desovled and add it to the soy sauce mixture. After that I helped ma'ata with the onions then we had to go get 1 table spoon of oil and put the pan with the onions. Once the onions started to cook I added the meat and mixed it all together. Then we had to mix the soy sauce mixture with the stock mixture and pour a little amount at a time into the pan. Then we had to star adding the cornflour mixture in the pan as well to make it thicken. Me, Ma'ata and Mrs Linda all had turns at mixing the onions and beef. Then we had to turn off our stoves and put the filling into a plastic container and take it to miss hecka. Then we had to clean our stations and go on to the bus back to school.

The Mysterious Walkway

I started feeling nervous. All I could see was the light from torches going on and off as we made our way along the gravel pathway that took us into the darkness.

As we crossed the bridge all I could hear was the sound of a waterfall rushing to the pool below. Everything around me smelt damp. My torch light showed the stairs in front of me. I grabbed the handrail and gripped it tight as other people's voices got louder and louder. Everyone sounded scared!

I started to see a light. As I walked closer I saw that the light was from our camp. The night walk was fun but I was happy to be back in the light until I saw the size of the cricket on the deck! I got a big fright when it flew onto my shirt. I quickly flicked it off.

Today we had to write a recount about an activity that we did a camp. I chose to write about the night walk. I have explained what I have heard, what I have seen, and what I could feel. For my plan I used the y chart and the TREE template.

Conserving Water

On Friday Sa Kae, Shakaia and I started this DLO. The question that we had too ask our self was, People living Auckland have been ask to conserve water but why. Our DLO Shows our learning and thinking about the question we were given. It took a little bit of time to figure out what we were going to write about but in the end we figured it in the end. I have always loved inquiry. So tell me how can people living in Auckland conserve water and how?

Today we had to make a DLO on bush safety. This DLO is for our camp because next week we are going to kokako lodge for camp. This presentation shows 5 simple bush safety steps. In this activity I worked with Ma'ata. I hope you enjoy reading our presentation.

Hunua Rangers

We have been getting ready for camp. In this DLO we had to find a map that shows Papakura, Hunua rangers, and our school. We had to label our house, the kokako lodge, the Papakura wave pools, and our school.

Quiche

Today at tech we made a quiche. In our quiche was onions, bacon, eggs, and cheese. I was working on the pastry while Ma'ata and Mrs Linda were doing the eggs, bacon, onions, and cream cheese. Ma'ata had to crack the 4 eggs into the medium bowl and mix it. Mrs Linda started cutting the onions and when Ma'ata finish doing the eggs she had to cut the bacon. For the pastry I had to measure 130 grams of flour and 60 gram of butter. Then I had to get 3 Tablespoons of water. Once I had all of that I had to mix the butter and flour with my hands to make it crumble. When it was all crumbly I had to add a little bit of water at a time to make it hard and doughy so I can roll it. Then I had to start folding the dough so that when I roll the dough it doesn't go crumbly again. When I was finished folding the dough I had to roll it into a circle shape. Then we had to put the pastry into a tin foil pan and start putting the onions and bacon in.First we had to put the onions in then the bacon. Once it was spread around the pastry we had to add the eggs and cream cheese mixture on top. Final step was to add the cheese and put it in the oven to bake. While it was baking we cleaned up and got ready to back to school. Once we got our quiches we went outside and hoped on the bus to school.

Omaru River

Our inquiry focus for today was the Omaru River. This river is located in East Auckland, Glen Innes. Zahra and I were talking about the positive side effect of the river and the negative side effects. To share our learning we made a DLO about the Omaru River. We added Images to back up our text. The blockage was caused by wet wiped flushed down the toilet. Blockages in the river can make the water stagnant and polluted.

Why is my blog unique?

Why my blog is Unique?

I have a blog so I can show the world my reading, writing, maths, and inquiry digital learning. Our blogs show the world that we participate and work together as a group in our class LS2.

My blog is unique because it helps me to learn, create, and share. It helps me learn, by other people giving me feedback in the comments section. My blog  helps me to create by looking at my older posts and learning from them.

Through my blog I am able to share, by showing my blog posts with the world. On my blog I have 165 posts all in total. In 2014 I had 35 blog posts. In 2015 I had 19 blog posts and in 2016 I had 95 blog posts. My blog has 5,380 blog page views.

When I first got my blog I was in room 5 with Miss Thomas. The bad thing about our blogs is that you need internet to access it because it’s an online blog and the great thing about our blogs is that it shows the world what kind of work I do in class.

I think that my blog is special and unique because it shows who I am. The other best thing about our blogs is that it can’t get lost or be thrown away. I think that everyone should have a blog because it is like another easy hack to life.

Our blogs are special because it shows the world my digital learning. My blog shows the world that we participate and work together as a group in our class.

In writing we have been writing an explanation on why is my blog unique. This DLO shows why my blog is unique. I hope you enjoy reading it.

Feedback

For reading the R group had to do this feedback slide. We did Reciprocal Reading. Then we did this feedback slide.

Life at P.B.S

I have made a collage about my life at P.B.S. I have used pictures from this year 2017. I have used pictures from : Tech, Trips and other fun activity's that we have done over the year.

Comparative and Superlative

In writing we have been learning about Comparatives and Superlatives. Mrs K made a list of adjectives and we had to write the comparatives and superlatives of the words on the list. Then we had to pick one of the comparatives and superlatives. When we finished choosing our comparatives and superlatives we had to find images for the comparatives and superlatives. The comparative and superlative I choose was fast, faster, and fastest.
